About Steve Flannes: Practical, Tangible Business Solutions


My background combines a unique collection of leadership, management, and project leadership positions, with original training as a psychologist, to create a career focused on assisting individuals, teams, and organizations in improving their effectiveness in the area of work-relevant people skills.

Two beliefs form the foundation for all of my work:

  1. Practical “people skills” will only increase in importance for professionals as the world of work continues to rapidly change towards ever increasing levels of complexity, virtual teams, cross cultural influences, and the expansion of supply chain driven work models.
  2. Those professionals with these practical people skills will be the ones who thrive best in completing excellent work and will also be the ones with the most career choices available.

It is no longer acceptable to be technically excellent but “people skill” poor or mediocre.

Prior to forming Flannes & Associates, I held a number of director level operations and project management positions in industries such as healthcare, consulting, and managed behavioral healthcare.

In my consulting work, I have worked across a broad cross spectrum of industries, as well as working with individuals from all levels of organizations, from front line employees to chief executive officers. I have worked with companies representing industries such as:

Affiliation Relationships

I have enjoyed developing long-term affiliation relationships with organizations whose work complements mine. For a number of years, I have been affiliated with the Project Management Institute (www.pmi.org), presenting talks and seminars to PMI groups on regional, domestic, and global levels. And since 1986, I have also been a consulting psychologist for the international career transition firm, DBM (www.dbm.com), providing individual, tailored career assessment services and executive coaching to over 1,200 individual professionals, from mid level managers up to chief executive officers.
